Front Loader Washing machines

Hi, about to embark on buying a front loader, has anyone got any opinions on particular brands? Eg, LG, Miele, Bosch, Electrolux…….cheers.

I can’t give you any brand comparisons, but I have an LG Intellowasher and I love it. I’ve only ever had top loaders before, but after having this, I’d never go back. It uses hardly any water and the clothes aren’t stretched from being caught and twisted around the agitator (because there isn’t one) as they are with a top loader.

Wondering if you realise their wash cycles take about 1hour 40 minutes plus to run and you can’t add to them once they’re started. So can make wash days very long and dedious.

We have had a whirlpool front loader for the past eight years and we have only had to have it fixed once. So I guess I can recommend Whirlpool. They save water, they take time yes… but you can set them and forget them.

i bought an electrolux front loader in March and it went like a dream … for about a month. i turned it on and all the lights were on but there was nobody home. electrolux couldn’t fix it - they said it was brain dead - so they replaced it with a new one. hopefully the last one was just a faulty machine that got thru and the new one keeps washing for ages.

Love my bosch front loader. we bought it about 5 years ago and it is still going strong. at the time the sales guy said only the top two models were being made in germany and the others shipped to australia were going to be produced in korea. the regular wash takes 1 hr 18 mins but there is a delay function so I usually set it to be ready to hang out in the morning. Mine only goes up to 1000rpm but they do go up to 1200 I think - so even if the wash is longer it can decrease the drying time. It also handwashes brilliantly. They have a quickwash function but when my sister bought hers they said not to use it all the time as it can shorten the life of the machine. I think the quickwash takes about 45 mins. It uses much less water and detergent which can only be good for everyone. Happy choosing and washing!

We bought a front loader Miele about 20 years ago.
In that twenty years we have replaced the door seal twice and the water level sensor last year - no other problems - a family of 5 - gentle on the clothes - not as good as the test generation on water consumption but still pretty good!
You gets what you pays for - buy the best quality you can afford ….. you may be able to get an ex display model a little cheaper - we did! - phone Miele themselves and ask….

You can actually add clothes a front loader is on and you can have 30 or 15 mins express depending on which frontloader you buy. it also saves a lot more water and electricity. Its worth buying a frontloader than a toploader even though it is not as durable
